It was a day of history at Anambra-Imo River Basin Development Authority (AIRBDA), as HRM, Eze Peter Opara, Eze Udo1 of Umunumo Ancient Kingdom, and the Councillor representing Umunumo ward, Hon.Inegbu Okey Jonas, led leaders of Umunumo community in Ehime vMbano LGA, Imo state on a courtesy visit to the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of AIRBDA, Rt. Hon. Barr. Anthony Emeka Nduka, at the Authority’s headquarters in Owerri, last Friday.
Among the personalities who made the visit included, HRM, Eze Sam Okeke, Chioke1 of Umuchoke Autonomous Community, HRM, Eze Paulinus Alozie, the traditional ruler of Ibeafor Autonomous Community and Prof Bonaventure Nwokoma, President-General of Umunumo Ancient Kingdom.
Also on the call were,Prof Ngozi Isiozor, Prof Helen Obiakaonu, other Presidents-General and so many high net worth individuals from Umunomu.
Speaking ,the leader of the delegation, Eze Peter Opara , said that the people of Umunumo are excited that an illustrious son of Ehime Mbano- Rt. Hon. Nduka, was appointment to head AIRBDA, a federal government agency of great importance to national development.
He said that the contingent came to thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Gov.,Sen Hope Uzodinma, who were both instrumental to appointing their son to head AIRBDA.
He noted that the appointment is a testament of Rt. Hon Nduka’s outstanding performance in previous appointment and urged him to continue with the good works.
Also reacting , the Councillor of Umunumo Ward, Hon. Inegbu described Hon. Emeka Nduka as a Low bed that is ready to carry the load of every trustworthy person without counting cost. He said that Hon. Nduka is a political giant in Ehime Mbano and Imo state in general, who is led by the fear of God, with a humane and peaceful disposition.
The Councillor recalled how Rt. Hon. Nduka gave him a contact in Industrial Training Fund (ITF), that has led to a successful training of over 1,200 youths of Ehime Mbano and still counting. Hon. Inegbu attributed all those successes to the handiwork of the River Basin boss.
A prominent son of Umunumo who is also SA to the Governor , Ezechi Chukwu, reiterated the bond that has long existed between Umunumo and Nzerem, where the MD hails . He prayed that the bond be deepened while he pleaded that the MD should use his good offices to ensure that the people of Umunumo benefit from AIRBDA both in terms of employment, projects and youth empowerment.
He noted that the incumbent councillor representing Umunumo Ward,Hon. Inegbu who he said has similar behaviour as Rt. Hon Nduka, is a quality councillor never witnessed in Umunumo since after the reign of late Hon. Anyankpa’s representation.
The President-General of Umunumo Ancient Kingdom, Prof. Nwokoma also expressed happiness that a great son of the soil heads AIRBDA. He appealed to the Managing Director to use his office to evacuated from the streets most of the youths, who have no job. He noted that if these youths are given jobs and empowered, the rate of crime will be drastically reduced.
The PG prayed for God’s wisdom and direction on the Managing Director.
Responding, Rt Hon. Nduka, thanked the traditional rulers, the PGs, the high net worth individuals and indeed the entire people of Umunumo who paid him a courtesy call.
The MD noted that his own community, Nzerem, is part of Umunumo, Agbaja and Nzerem know as Nneato Ugwumeze.
He promised that AIRBDA will surely extend development projects to these areas within the limit of what is available.
The courtesy call was witnessed by the Executive Directors of AIRBDA.
The high point of the occasion was the royal blessing and prayers by the royal fathers on the MD and his team.
